Public Scoping Newsletter
This newsletter announces the initiation of the project and summarizes the purpose of and need for the project, including the numerous issues related to safety, orientation, wayfinding, and infrastructure. It indicates when park staff will be attending meetings, events, and setting up an on-site informational booth during the public comment period. It also outlines the project area and provides a brief background on the site's history and significance. Lastly, the planning process and additional opportunities for public involvement are outlined on the final page.
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the National Historic Preservation Act, and other laws, regulations and policies, the National Park Service is developing alternatives to be studied in the Environmental Assessment. The Environmental Assessment will evaluate potential impacts of these alternatives to the natural, cultural, and human environment. Information on the NEPA and NHPA processes can be found at: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/links.cfm
Note: For those printing this newsletter for their review, it is intended to be printed at 11x17 and folded to create a 4-page booklet.
