Draft General Management Plan / Wilderness Study

The General Management Plan (GMP) portion of this document describes the general path the NPS intends to follow in managing the park for the next 15 - 20 years. Issues addressed by the GMP relate to protection of fundamental park resources and values, management of new park lands, public access, crowding/overuse, wilderness, wild and scenic rivers, and development and use around the park. The Wilderness Study portion of this document provides a public forum for evaluating new lands within the expanded boundary for possible recommendation to Congress for inclusion in the National Wilderness Preservation System.
