Please join park managers on a site visit to learn about and discuss the 'Aimakapā Fishpond and Wetlands Restoration Management Plan. You are welcome anytime during the hours identified below.

 
Description:
The National Park Service (NPS) has prepared a Restoration Management Plan for the 'Aimakapā Fishpond and Wetlands with an associated environmental assessment (EA). An analysis of alternatives and their potential impacts to the environment and park resources are presented in the EA.


To assist the NPS with this project, the public is invited to comment on the EA. The document is available at the NPS Planning, Environment, and Public Comment (PEPC) website at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/kaho.


A public site visit will be held on December 12, from 8:30 am-11:00 am at the canoe halau located on the beach at 'Ai'opio Fishtrap on the Honokōhau Harbor side of the Park. We'll meet at the halau, and at 9 am walk along the coast to 'Aimakapā. The site visit will provide information and opportunity to comment on the plan.


Meeting Directions/Instructions:
From Kailua-Kona, drive north on Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway and turn left into Kealakehe Parkway towards the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor entrance. From Kona International Airport, drive south on Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway and turn right onto Kealakehe Parkway towards the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor entrance. Then, take the first right to drive around the northern side of the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor. Parking is in the Honokōhau Harbor parking lot. Enter the Park on foot through the Berm Gate adjacent the Kona Sailing Club facility, or by walking along the north Harbor channel to the Park entrance gate.
