Replace Visitor Parking Lot gates with electronic arms and fee-collection equipment

Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Replace Visitor Parking Lot gates with electronic arms and fee-collection equipment » Document List

As part of a new pay parking system in the Visitor Parking lot, electronic gate arms and a control box will be installed at the entrance and exit lanes. In the 1970s, the NPS built a ticket hut and electronic gate arms in the same location but these were removed in the late 1990s and replaced with a different parking system and mechanical swing gates operated by park staff. An electrical line trench will be excavated from the northwest corner of the Stuve House (HS-05), the closest switch box location, through the side lawn to the parking lanes. New concrete pads will also be poured for the gate arm equipment. The trench and new footings and pads will be placed as close as possible to the former configuration from the 1970s to avoid further ground disturbance.
