Bison in Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park Bison Management Plan

Yellowstone National Park » Yellowstone National Park Bison Management Plan » Document List

The National Park Service (NPS) prepared a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for a bison management plan at Yellowstone National Park to provide park staff with tools to manage bison that reflect the best available information and current circumstances. When finalized, it will update NPS actions identified in the Interagency Bison Management Plan (IBMP), signed in 2000 by the Secretaries of Agriculture and Interior and the Governor of Montana. The Draft EIS/plan takes into consideration management actions likely to occur on lands outside the park in Montana, while acknowledging the NPS does not have jurisdiction or control over actions such as hunting or tolerance for bison beyond the park boundary.
