Repair and paint retaining wall in front of Lincoln Home - Update
Mark Price, 217-
The brick retaining wall veneer on the front and partial side of Lincoln Home (HS-01) has been damaged by the widely fluctuating temperatures experienced in Springfield this year. This has caused spalling and peeling paint in several places. Tuckpointing may also be needed. The update to the project is that a drain tile line needs to be installed behind the wall. A trench will be dug directly behind the wall to the depth of approximately 4'. This area was completely excavated during the 1987-88 restoration project (see attached pictures) after having been surveyed by archeologists in 1985 and monitored during the excavation. When the repairs are complete, the trench will be filled, and the wall will be painted with latex paint to match the siding of the Lincoln Home, meeting historical accuracy. Approximately 259 square feet of brick will be inspected and repaired.
