Consistent with NPS Management Policies 2006, NPS prepared a stand-alone foundation document for Point Reyes National Seashore that addresses the entire national seashore.
A foundation document provides basic guidance for planning and management decisions. It includes a brief description of the park and identifies a national park unit's purpose, significance, fundamental resources and values, and the interpretive themes that tell its unique and significant story. This document is not a decision-making document and does not include actions or management strategies; rather, it describes a shared understanding of what is most important about the park.
