Repair to conduit pipe leading into Lincoln Home (HS-01) basement

Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Repair to conduit pipe leading into Lincoln Home (HS-01) basement » Document List

Currently conduit is located in a 3/4" pipe drilled through the concrete foundation into the basement of the Lincoln Home. The concrete foundation was poured in 1987 as part of the restoration for the house. The conduit pipe was added shortly after on the north side of the Lincoln Home. The pipe leads to a buried junction box located approximately 6' north in the Carriagan lot. This project will replace the box and replace the pipe with a 1 1/2" pipe. This will require ground disturbance to remove the old junction box and replace the pipe, located approximately 2' below surface, leading between the box and the foundation. It will also require drilling through the concrete to expand the hole for the pipe. Prior to the 1987 restoration, this area was a stairwell to access the basement from the north side of the house. The area was surveyed in 1985 by contract archeologists, and reviewed in 2006 by MWAC archeologists working in the Carrigan lot but was not excavated in the area immediately around the junction box.
