Pinnacles National Park Seeks Public Review of Environmental Assessment for Replacement of the East Side Entrance Station

Superintendent Karen Beppler-Dorn invites the public to comment on the National Park Service (NPS) environmental assessment for replacement of the east side entrance station.

Under the NPS preferred alternative, the entrance station would be relocated approximately 0.43 miles from State Route 25 (north site). Another alternative considers relocating the entrance station just south of the campground (south site) (1.77 miles from the boundary).

The purpose of the proposal is to improve the visitor entrance experience by constructing a new entrance station and gateway sign, thereby providing a better sense of entry to Pinnacles National Park and reaching more visitors with park information. The new entrance station would help reduce visitor congestion upon entering the park, and improve opportunities for administrative fee collection operations at the east entrance to the park.

Public comments will be accepted through September 19, 2018. The environmental assessment is available electronically for review and comment online by visiting the website for the NPS's Planning Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) system https://parkplanning.nps.gov/pinn.
