This project is to repair the brick walkways from Edwards St. to the Bus Parking Lot along 7th St. There is approximately 5,000 SF of brick area in this specific location, of which approximately 50% is in need of repair. The uplifting of the brick by the roots of the trees on 7th Street is causing a tripping hazard. We will make repairs as necessary, removing areas of brick that are sinking or uplifted by tree roots. Existing bricks will be removed, a new layer of compacted rock, if necessary, will be placed, and a layer of sand will be put down. The brick will then be put back in place. We will also be removing some of the brick around the trees to create a larger raised bed area with concrete curbing and potential decorative posts to eliminate any potential tripping hazards. Some trimming of the roots may be necessary in order to pour the concrete curbing. The brick sidewalk was installed in 1976.
