Arlington Memorial Bridge Rehabilitation Environmental Assessment
George Washington Memorial Parkway » Arlington Memorial Bridge Rehabilitation Environmental Assessment » Document List
The EA is a required milestone before any rehabilitation on Arlington Memorial Bridge can begin. The EA presents five alternatives, a No-Action Alternative and four Action Alternatives, and analyzes the potential impact of each alternative. The EA can be accessed from the Document List link on the left side of this homepage.
The National Park Service is proposing to repair Arlington Memorial Bridge by rehabilitating or replacing the steel draw span, called a bascule span; repairing deteriorated portions of the abutments, piers and concrete arch spans; replacing the concrete bridge deck; and resurfacing travel lanes. The rehabilitation project also includes replacing concrete sidewalks and refitting granite curbs; repairing granite bridge railings, lamp posts, and access panels; installing a better drainage system; and making minor, nonstructural improvements.
Interested individuals, organizations and agencies are invited to submit comments on the EA from April 15 - May 16, 2016 by clicking the Open for Comment link on the left side of this homepage.
Information on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) can be found online in the Policy/Links section of PEPC.
