Lewis and Clark National Historic Park » Otter Point Restoration » Document List

The public is invited to review and comment on the Otter Point Restoration Environmental Assessment (EA). The EA has been prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to provide the decision framework for the following:
• Analysis of a reasonable range of alternatives to meet management objectives;
• Evaluation of potential issues and impacts to natural and cultural resources and values and the human environment; and,
• Identification of mitigation measures to lessen the degree of those impacts.

The purpose of this project is to satisfy the intent of the Fort Clatsop National Memorial Expansion Act of 2002 (P.L. 107-221) and to help satisfy federal legal responsibilities under the 2008 Biological Opinion for the Federal Columbia River Power System (2008 Bi-Op).

For the past two years Lewis and Clark National Park and other partners have completed a number of studies to help analyze and develop this project, including an archeological survey, wetland delineation, historical/cultural landscape assessment, a river dredge materials survey, a geotechnical engineering analysis, and a hydraulic analysis.
