Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge
Olympic National Park » Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge
The National Park Service (NPS) is proposing to reconstruct a facility on Hurricane Ridge. The NPS is in the first stage of planning and park officials want the public to help shape the design. The project is in the conceptual, pre-design phase. During the planning process, members of the public have the opportunity to provide input related to the proposed project.
The original Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge, a 12,201-square-foot structure built in 1952, was lost to a fire in May 2023. The lodge was undergoing rehabilitation at the time. A third-party investigation into the origin and cause of the fire found no definitive cause. The popular facility supported concessions, education, and emergency operations in Olympic National Parks subalpine zone.
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other related compliance and consultation processes, will commence once design parameters have been determined.
