As part of Arbor Day 2025 activities, the Civic Garden Club of Springfield, a park partner, requested to plant a new tree to replace a tree that had split and been removed on the lot line between Lots 9 and 10 on Block 7, also known as the Burch (10) and Brown (9) lots. A Saucer Magnolia was chosen to match two other Saucer Magnolias nearby. The Garden Club will provide the tree and the labor to plant. The tree will be planted within 2 feet of the old Mulberry tree location because the stump was ground out but has not decayed enough underground to make it possible to plant the new tree directly on top of it. The entire area was surveyed by archeologists in 2006 and 2007. The lots are located directly west across the street from the Lincoln Home. Visitors walking from the Visitor Center to the Lincoln Home walk along the southern edge of Lot 10.

In the park Cultural Landscape Plan (2014), pg 5-21 states, regarding the Mulberry Tree that was removed: "If it is not possible to preserve the tree, plant a deciduous tree from the historic tree list in the back yard." Magnolia x soulangiana is on the Master Plant List (pg. 3-12 in the CLR).
