The redevelopment of Poplar Point will be determined through this planning process and ultimately include a mix of preserved and improved wetlands and natural areas, housing, community amenities, development uses, and improved connections between the site and surrounding areas.
The Poplar Point Plan is being developed in partnership between the District and NPS with input from the public and the surrounding communities of Wards 6, 7, and 8 to ensure redevelopment aligns with community and environmental needs.
This project builds on previous planning efforts by the District and NPS dating back more than twenty years. This kickoff offers the opportunity for both new and previously engaged members of the public to guide the plan for redevelopment. The planning process includes a Master Plan and Environmental Assessment, which are required to complete a land transfer between NPS and the District government.
The District and NPS encourage the public to participate in the planning process to shape Poplar Point's future. A virtual public meeting will be held on February 11, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This is an opportunity to learn more about the project and its phases, ask questions and find out how to stay engaged throughout the process.
Details for joining the virtual public meeting and providing comment are available at https://publicinput.com/poplarpoint
