Remove and replace dying oak trees next to the Visitor Center (S-31)

Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Remove and replace dying oak trees next to the Visitor Center (S-31) » Document List

Two dying Northern Red Oak trees will be removed for safety and replaced with native street trees. These trees are located along 7th Street across from the north doors of the Visitor Center. They were marked "Fair but with decay and cavities", and "Poor" on the 2017 Arborist report and both have continued to decay. Both trees are within 2 feet of busy pedestrian walkways and city streets and are potential safety hazards should they fall in any direction. The Northern Red Oak in between these trees is already marked for removal (PEPC #125305).

Recommended trees include: Magnolia, American Hornbeam, and Ironwood.
