Repair, Rehabilitation, and Replacement of the Shiloh National Cemetery Brick Wall

Shiloh National Military Park » Repair, Rehabilitation, and Replacement of the Shiloh National Cemetery Brick Wall » Document List

Shiloh National Military Park is planning to repair and replace a portion of the brick wall surrounding the west boundary of the Shiloh National Cemetery. The park will reuse features from the original wall (built in 1940) to the maximum extent possible, including the gate, latches, and cannonballs on the flaking pillars of the gate. The sections of the wall adjacent to the comfort station are in good structural shape, and will be cleaned and have weep holes installed to prevent future damage from weathering. The park will ensure that all new brick wall construction matches the existing brick wall in texture, brick and motor color, bonding, and use of ornamental curved bricks.

All work on the wall will be documented prior to, during, and after demolition.

We invite you to comment if there are any questions or concerns with this project.
