Hoh Wastewater System Replacement

Olympic National Park » Hoh Wastewater System Replacement » Document List

This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This project will replace the aging sewer system at the Hoh Rain Forest, which serves the needs of the campground, picnic area, visitor center, and employee housing area. The world-renowned Hoh Rain Forest receives approximately 150,000 visits each year.

The Hoh wastewater system is undersized for current visitation of the area. The project is proposed to be conducted in three phases:
1) Soil testing of potential drain field sites followed by pre-design of system modifications and cost estimates.
2) Emergency measures: construct additional drain field and complete sufficient system modifications to eliminate introduction of solids to drain fields.
3) Complete remaining system modifications not accomplished in Phase 2.
