Rehabilitate Devils Garden Campground

Arches National Park » Rehabilitate Devils Garden Campground » Document List

This project will correct deficiencies at the Devils Garden Campground area identified in FMSS inspections. These sites receive heavy visitor use and there is a great need for accessible sites to better serve the visitors of the Park.

Work will include the installation of 3 colored concrete dumpster pads and stucco screens for the new dumpsters. New concrete driveways and improvements at two camp sites will be improved to meet accessibility standards. Work will be accomplished in sites 4, 42, 22, 11, and the host site. Work will include removal of old blacktop parking area and replacement with colored concrete. Fire rings, barbeque grills, and tent pads will also be installed on concrete pads. Several other camp sites will be barrier free, and will have improved vehicle parking, tent pads, grills and picnic tables. All improvements will be done within the existing footprint of the camp sites. No trees will be removed and a very limited amount of vegetation will be disturbed. Minor routine maintenance repairs to all three comfort stations will also be done. Impacts on staff and park visitors: One camp site at a time will be closed to camping. There will be equipment and workers in the campground Mondays through Thursdays.
