Gravelly Point and Roaches Run Environmental Assessment

George Washington Memorial Parkway » Gravelly Point and Roaches Run Environmental Assessment » Document List

The George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) is undertaking an Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate environmental, recreational, and access enhancements to Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary, Gravelly Point, and the Mount Vernon Trail (the "study area"). The study area is located near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Crystal City along the GWMP. The purpose of the EA is to evaluate options to: enhance visitor experience; improve traffic operations; accommodate recreational user groups; improve park infrastructure; and enhance the safety of pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists in the study area.

This project is a continuation of the unfinished "Gravelly Point, Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary, Mount Vernon Trail and Long Bridge Park EA" on which GWMP and Arlington County, VA cooperated in 2008. The project study area and scope have been revised to take into account changes in adjoining areas and components now addressed in separate planning efforts. Materials from public scoping conducted in 2008 can be found by clicking on "Document List".

Concept alternatives will be posted under the "Open For Comment" link on the left and available for public comment from May 23, 2012 through June 22, 2012. Details about an open house on June 5th can be found under "Meeting Notices" link.
