Clara Barton National Historic Site Rehabilitation

The George Washington Memorial Parkway (GWMP) of the National Park Service (NPS) is proposing to rehabilitate Clara Barton National Historic Site, a National Historic Landmark administered by GWMP.

The Clara Barton National Historic Site is a historic property noted for its association with Clara Barton and the American Red Cross which she founded. The house served variously as a supplies warehouse, administrative office/Red Cross Headquarters, and Ms. Barton's residence between 1891 and 1912 when she passed away.

The NPS-GWMP is excited to embark on a major rehabilitation project to make preservation maintenance repairs and upgrades for health and safety codes, which will prolong the life of the structure while increasing its capacity for visitation.
