The NPS has completed its conservation planning for using standard silvicultural methods to accelerate restoration of conditions typical of late seral and old-growth forests in 1,125 acres of second-growth forests in the Middle Fork of Lost Man Creek near Orick in northwestern Humboldt County, California. We have documented our decision in a Finding of No Significant Impact. The tiled photographs show conditions in unmanaged second-growth forests. The NPS completed similar silvilcultural operations to restore forest stands on about 1,700 acres in the South Fork of Lost Man Creek in 2011. The environmental assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for the South Fork project are available under Redwood National Park Archived Projects.
