National Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial Environmental Assessment

The National Park Service and National Desert Storm War Memorial Association, in cooperation with the National Capital Planning Commission, are seeking public comment on the National Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial Environmental Assessment.

The National Desert Storm and Desert Shield Memorial will honor the approximately 500,000 members of the Armed Forces who served in support of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield and is proposed for the southwest corner of the intersection of 23rd Street NW and Constitution Avenue NW. The Environmental Assessment describes two alternatives for the memorial, including one action alternative and the no action alternative, and analyzes the environmental consequences of implementing each alternative.

Public comments will be accepted for a 30-day period beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2022, through October 7, 2022. Comments must be entered into the website or postmarked and sent to the address below by October 7, 2022, to receive consideration.

Please be aware that the entire comment submitted - including personal identifying information such as address, phone number, and email address - may be made publicly available.
