Public Scoping Newsletter

George Washington Memorial Parkway requests your input and participation during the public scoping period in developing a Wetland Restoration and Long Term Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement at Dyke Marsh. The document below is a newsletter identifying the project purpose, need, objectives, and preliminary alternative elements. It also provides an overview of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) planning process.

GWMP invites scoping comments from the public on the topics discussed in this newsletter. To be most helpful to the planning process, comments should be postmarked or transmitted not later than May 23, 2008.

The most useful types of scoping comments consider the following:
(1) Alternative approaches and ideas for accomplishing the project goals.
(2) The range of environmental and socioeconomic issues that need to be considered.
(3) Other potential projects that might affect or be affected by this project.
(4) Information that needs to be considered (such as related research) and why.
(5) Information on how you use the park and how a project might affect that use.

Please submit comments electronically through this website or mail written comments to:
