Kennels Storage Building
The 2008 Cultural Landscape Report (CLR) for Park Headquarters calls for removal of the existing kennels storage building (non-historic. This is not the historic kennels building located adjacent to the dog pens). The existing building is deteriorated and classified as Functionally Obsolete. The CLR and its associated Environmental Assessment (EA, "Headquarters Area Plan") calls for construction of a new Kennels Annex, located about 20 feet west of the existing building so as not to be visible from the Headquarters Road. It will support the Kennels Operation, including space for the Kennels Manager's office and files; computer work stations for staff, animal care; staff restroom; sled and gear storage, vermin-proof dog food storage; and winter patrol gear and food storage. The Kennels Support Building will include a mechanical room for space heating, energy efficient heating for the historic Kennels Building, and potable water for year round dog care.
