Repair of Unstable Roadbed at MP 270.3 Environmental Assessment

Environmental Assessment for the repair of approximately 200 linear feet of unstable roadbed on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 270.3. This project consists of the remediation of an active fill embankment slide that has experienced frequent instability since approximately the mid-1970's. The intent of this project is to develop corrective measures that will either arrest the slide movement to stabilize the slope using a system of anchor blocks or to stabilize the road bed by spanning the slide with a bridge. The project will alleviate continuing safety concerns and maintenance efforts on this portion of the Parkway. The purpose of this Environmental Assessment is to describe the affected environment and analyze potential impacts associated with a No Action Alternative and three action alternatives.
