The National Park Service in partnership with the District of Columbia held a Section 106 Consultation Meeting on April 30, 2025 at 3:00 PM. The meeting provided an opportunity to finalize the draft area of potential effect and to hold a discussion on the initial identification of adverse effects.
Poplar Point is a section of Anacostia Park located along the east side of the Anacostia River in Southeast Washington, DC. It is bound by the 11th Street Bridges to the north, the Anacostia Freeway (Interstate 295) and Suitland Parkway to the south, and the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge to the west. Poplar Point currently has managed meadows, wetlands, and natural areas; turf open space; the NPS National Capital Parks-East Headquarters; and US Park Police (USPP) complex and helipad.
