Glacier Bay National Park Final Backcountry and Wilderness Management Plan, Environmental Assessment, and Finding of No Significant Impact July 2023

The National Park Service has approved a Wilderness and Backcountry Management Plan, Environmental Assessment, and Finding of No Significant Impact for Glacier Bay National Park. The final plan will provide long-term direction and an integrated framework for meeting NPS Wilderness stewardship policy requirements while acknowledging the long and enduring connection between Indigenous people and their Homelands. The plan also supplements the 1984 general management plan and serves as a collaborative vision for providing visitor opportunities and managing visitor use in the wilderness—including commercial use—to protect resources and connect visitors to fundamental park experiences and values.
