PEPC and Parkplanning will have an outage from 5 PM to 10 PM MT on July 19th due to network maintenance. Please plan and save your work accordingly.

In compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Park Service has prepared an environmental assessment (EA) for the Stephens Creek Administrative Area (SCAA) in Yellowstone National Park.

Two alternatives were considered: no action and the preferred alternative. Under the No Action alternative, the existing functions of the SCAA would continue, but would not be under a management plan.

Under the Preferred Alternative, the administrative use of the area would be capped at the present 43 acre footprint, exotic vegetation would be more actively managed, visual impacts would be addressed, and a barn could be constructed within the current footprint for the park stock operations. A barn would improve the health and safety of staff and livestock and the efficiency of the corral operations. Alternative locations within and outside Yellowstone National Park for the administrative activities at the SCAA were considered but dismissed for practical reasons.

Public scoping for this project took place from July 15-August 18, 2003.

The EA is currently available for comment and may be viewed on this website.

Comments on the EA are due by midnight July 14, 2006. Thank you for your interest in Yellowstone National Park.
