North Entrance Road Reconstruction Project
Yellowstone National Park » North Entrance Road Reconstruction Project » Document List
The National Park Service in cooperation FHWA, Western Federal Lands Division, is proposing a permanent north entrance road in Yellowstone National Park.
Action is needed because the North Entrance Road failed after the catastrophic flooding event in June 2022. The North Entrance Road provides vehicular access between Gardiner, Montana and Mammoth Hot Springs, Wyoming for park staff, visitors, and Cooke City residents; provides critical access for emergency vehicles; and provides the second most popular entrance to the park and the only entrance open year-round.
NPS is starting the planning process and will be providing opportunities for the public to learn about the proposed project and provide comment. The public comment period will open on February 12, 2024 and run through March 13, 2024. To submit a comment on the project, click the "Open For Comment" link on the left side of this page. Then select the "Yellowstone National Park N. Entrance Road Newsletter" document and then click the "Comment on Document" button and then "Comment Now" to enter and submit your comments.
