The National Park Service (NPS) has released an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Lahar Detection and Volcano Monitoring System Expansion at Mount Rainier National Park. The EA is available for review and comment through June 25, 2021. Click on the "Open for Comment" link to access the EA and appendices.

A virtual public meeting for those interested in learning more about the proposed lahar detection system and alternatives is scheduled for Wednesday, June 9 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
 
Description:
Please join staff from Mount Rainier National Park and the U.S. Geological Survey, Cascades Volcano Observatory to learn more about the project and how you can be involved in the planning process. There will be a short presentation on the monitoring system at 4:30 pm, and park staff will be available to answer questions.
