Description:
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Park Service (NPS) will be conducting a public scoping meeting for restoring native prairie at the American Camp Unit of San Juan Island National Historical Park (park).
The purpose of scoping efforts will be to elicit early public comments regarding project purposes and needs, objectives, issues and concerns, the nature and extent of environmental impacts that may occur related to the project, and alternatives the NPS should consider during project planning.
Park staff will present background information on the needs, purposes, objectives and preliminary issues related to prairie restoration at American Camp. Park staff then will solicit comments from meeting participants to modify or expand preliminary information prepared by park staff.
In addition to comments provided to park staff at the meeting, written scoping comments also may be submitted through April 10, 2009, via e-mail to 'christopher_davis@nps.gov' or through regular mail to Superintendent, San Juan Island National Historical Park, P.O. Box 429, Friday Harbor, WA 98250.
Meeting Directions/Instructions:
Take Spring Street out of the Town of Friday Harbor and turn left onto Caines Street at the four-way stop. Within one-quarter mile, bear right onto Nash Street. The Mullis Community Senior Center is located at the intersection of Caines Street and Nash Street.

The purpose of public open house is to elicit your comments regarding the alternative purposed and the nature and extent of environmental impacts that may occur related to the project.
Park staff will present background information on the needs, purposes, objectives and issues related to European rabbit removal at American Camp.
