Dear Friends,

I am very pleased to announce the completion of the Final General Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement for Big Thicket National Preserve. The final plan is the culmination of a great deal of time, energy, and input from members of the public, other agencies, and the National Park Service. This final general management plan provides comprehensive guidance for perpetuating natural systems, preserving cultural resources, and providing opportunities for high-quality visitor experiences in the Preserve for the next 15 to 20 years.

The final general management plan / environmental impact statement is available on this National Park Service website and can be found from this page, by clicking on the "Document List" link to the left. On the following page, the text for "Final General Management Plan/Environmental Impact Statement - August 2014" is the link to the document. A limited number of hard copies and compact discs are available from the park upon request.

Your input was instrumental in the planning process. The National Park Service values the public's interest in Big Thicket National Preserve, and we look forward to implementing this plan with your support and collaboration.
