The NPS prepared a preliminary evaluation of the Garfield Memorial in Cleveland, Ohio, to determine the likelihood that the site would qualify for inclusion as an affiliated area into the national park system. Affiliated areas are owned and operated by nonfederal organizations that maintain a formal relationship with the National Park Service.

The Garfield Memorial is the crypt of the 20th President of the United States, James A. Garfield, his wife Lucretia, their daughter Mary, and her husband Joseph Stanley-Brown. It is located in the Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland.
