components include procurement of equipment, such as transformers, meter boxes, wiring and conduit; excavation of trenches, improvement of walkways and parking spaces, installation of chargers and power dispensers on mounting posts, and other related items or services. Individual charging units would be installed in existing parking areas, in locations that are reasonably close to pre-existing power sources and electrical distribution panels. The proposed project sites include facilities located in El Portal (3), Yosemite Valley (3), and Tuolumne Meadows (1). The project is supported by a grant intended to allow access to national parks by visitors using privately-owned electric vehicles in the Sierra Nevada region.
