Shark Valley Site Plan

Everglades National Park » Shark Valley Site Plan » Document List

The National Park Service (NPS) is beginning the preparation of a site plan for the Shark Valley area of Everglades National Park. The purpose of this project is to enhance the visitor experience, safety, and park operations at Shark Valley as envisioned in the park's 2015 General Management Plan (GMP). The plan will address issues due to unsafe parking conditions, flooding at the Entrance Road and portions of the Tram Road, and improvements to the administration and operations complex.

As part of this process, we are inviting public comment on a range of alternative concepts for addressing these issues. A newsletter with additional information may be accessed under "Document List".

The NPS will host two virtual open houses regarding the site plan during the 30-day comment period: on Tuesday, February 9th at 1:00 p.m. and Wednesday, February 10th at 6:30 p.m. A link to join the virtual public meetings may be accessed under "Meeting Notices". You are invited to attend these meetings to share your thoughts and ask NPS representatives any questions you may have.

We also invite you to submit written comments by February 28, 2021. On the left column, click on 'Open For Comment' to open the comment fields.

Once we have refined the range of alternative concepts with public input, we will move to the next phase, which will include assessing compliance needs under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other environmental regulations.

As we move forward with planning for the improvements at Shark Valley, we encourage you to stay connected and be an active participant in this planning process. To be added to the Shark Valley Site Plan mailing list to receive plan notifications and updates please email: tatiana_marquez@nps.gov.

Thank you for your interest and participation.

Sincerely,

Pedro Ramos
Superintendent
