Construct Everglades City Replacement Housing Hardened to Resist Storms and Flooding
Copies of the EA and FONSI may be accessed by clicking on the "Document List" link at the left side of this page.
The approved FONSI is based on the preferred alternative in the EA which involves demolishing three hurricane-damaged houses at Everglades City within Everglades National Park, and constructing one new 4-plex housing unit in an established housing area at Ochopee, Florida within the Big Cypress National Preserve (BICY).
This project will provide housing that is safe for seasonal and permanent staff and also provide a structure that is built to current Florida building codes and capable of resisting hurricane winds and flooding.
Thank you for your interest in this project.
