Willow Beach Road Realignment

Lake Mead National Recreation Area » Willow Beach Road Realignment » Document List

The National Park Service is seeking public comments on the development of an environmental assessment to improve portions of Willow Beach Road.

The NPS, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, is proposing to repair the deteriorated roadway. The road has reached the end of its serviceable life, and a segment of the road is located within a wash and prone to repeat flash flooding.

The purpose of the proposed project is to provide a safe and sustainable driving route from U.S. Highway 93 to the Willow Beach Marina that is resilient to flood damage and cost-effective to maintain.

Because public participation is essential to the success of the planning process, the National Park Service encourages the public to provide ideas, concerns, issues, suggestions and potential topics for consideration as staff develop the environmental assessment. Comments and recommendations regarding the scope of the environmental assessment will be accepted through Sept. 19.

Following the analysis of the public scoping comments, NPS will prepare an environmental assessment for the project, which will be made available for a 30-day public review period.
