Stabilization of Pullman Administration Building and install visitor center

Pullman National Monument was created in 2015 by Presidential Proclamation. Since that time, the National Park Service (NPS) presence on site has continued to grow. As part of the ongoing park development, NPS proposes to further stabilize the reconstructed Administration Building and develop a visitor center on the first floor. The Administration Building is the central icon of Pullman National Monument and is the only property owned by the Federal Government. The building suffered a catastrophic fire in 1998 and was reconstructed by the state of Illinois in 2007. The fire and subsequent reconstruction replaced most of the historic fabric but some elements still remain. The NPS invites the public to comment on the installation of the visitors center and its potential impacts on cultural resources.
