Interior Alaska Forest Insect Pest Campground Survey
The goal of the Alaska Interior campground survey is to look for possible introductions of non-native insect pests. Damage from known insect pests currently affecting Alaska's forested stands will be documented and recorded. Early detection of invasive species is our best chance to contain and eliminate potential insect threats to our natural resources.
Researchers will conduct insect surveys of forested stands in campgrounds of Denali National Park and Preserve in June, July, and August of 2017. All surveys will be based upon observation with non-destructive sampling techniques used.
