Repair/Paint Fences South Half of Park to Enhance Visitor Appreciation

Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Repair/Paint Fences South Half of Park to Enhance Visitor Appreciation » Document List

This project will consist of repairing and/or replacing approximately 3,000 linear feet of deteriorated fencing within the South half of Lincoln Home National Historic Site. We will also be repainting all fencing within the South half of the park. The fencing associated with various historic structures and properties located within the historic area is an important element of the cultural landscape. The various types and styles of fencing that enclose the 28 structures within the historic area are significant for full visitor understanding and appreciation of the historic environment.

Repairs may include replacing the fence post/supports that may have rotten while in the ground. If so, these posts will be removed and new treated lumber posts will be installed in the same hole. Pickets and vertical siding will be replaced with identical pickets or siding.
