Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Install screening fence and gravel area for cushman parking behind Aitken Barn (HS-16) » Document List

A small parking area is needed for the Cushman carts during break times and lunch near the Maintenance Offices and shops that will remove them from being the alley where they block the fire lane as well as provide an somewhat irresistible opportunity for tools and equipment to be removed from the open bed in the back of the carts. The parking area will be screened by a 6' tall board fence requiring approximately 6 post holes (8" diameter x 36" deep) along an approximately 30' fence. The fence will run from the corner of the non-historic Carpenter Shop (S-32) north along the existing boardwalk, stopping at the T intersection of the boardwalk coming from the Dubois House (HS-15). It will be painted white to match the other modern board fences throughout the park. The area created between the fence and the Aitken Barn (HS-16), approximately 30' x 30', will be scraped approximately 4-6" to level and covered in gravel.
