Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Repaint exterior siding of Cook House (HS-19) » Document List

This project will consist of repairing and painting 4,407 square feet of exterior surface area on the historic Cook House (HS-19). This building was last painted in fiscal year 2008 and is past its life cycle to be painted. Surfaces to be painted include: 27 windows with trim and shutters, 3 doors with trim, siding, fascia, soffit, all molding and brackets, 183 feet of guttering, 120 feet of downspout and 291 square feet of porches. Repairs will be made as needed to the exterior of the structure. All surfaces to be painted will be prepared for painting by sanding and scraping. A primer coat will be put on any repaired spots, and two finish coats of exterior latex paint will be applied by brushwork to the entire structure. Paint is peeling all over the structure. Repairs to the porch will consist of removal of existing deck boards and framing, repairing and replacing any footings or piers as needed, and re-installing new framing and deck boards with pressure treated lumber. The porches will then be painted with a sand/paint mix to prevent slips.
