Emergency repair to conduit pipe between Lyon (HS-08) and Beedle (HS-12) houses

Lincoln Home National Historic Site » Emergency repair to conduit pipe between Lyon (HS-08) and Beedle (HS-12) houses » Document List

A conduit pipe holding cable to control the HVAC system at the Lincoln Home was needed. The conduit was located in a pipe between the Beedle House (HS-12) and the Lyon House (HS-08) but could not be pulled through. All that was coming through was mud. Upon exploration, it was discovered that the plastic pipe around the cable had shattered and filled with mud. The conduit cable had not been damaged. A new sleeve or connector will be installed after the pipe is cleaned out.

A 4" pipe is located just above the shattered pipe and a fence post hole is located about 2" from the shattered area. Installation of either may have caused the pipe to shatter.
