Badger Pass Monitoring Well Installation

Yosemite National Park » Badger Pass Monitoring Well Installation » Document List

The Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) is requesting Delaware North Corporation (DNC) to further investigate underground diesel contamination that was discovered when the former Badger Pass Lodge rental shop was removed in 2007. The purpose of this project is to install four groundwater monitoring wells that will determine the extent of the historic leakage of the underground diesel contamination from the existing boiler/generator equipment room.

The general scope of work is to install four groundwater monitoring wells using a small drill rig. Wells will be numbered BPMW-5, 6, 7, and 8 and will be installed at a depth not to exceed 15 feet having a 2 inch casing placed underground including an 8" well cap on the ground surface.

To minimize impacts to the ground surface during the installation of monitoring wells numbered 6, 7, and 8, DNC will lay down plywood panels as a path of travel for the drill rig to access the off road areas.
DNC has hired an environmental consulting firm to oversee the well installation including meeting all county, state and federal regulations.
