Through the Anacostia Kingfisher Watertrail Master Plan & Public Access Project, the Anacostia Watershed Society and partner organizations, will complete an Anacostia Watertrail Master Plan and develop a prioritized list of potential watertrail access sites and interpretive locations for further study and development. This master planning, done in collaboration with the National Park Service Chesapeake Bay Office (CHBA), will serve as a segment plan and aid in mapping the Anacostia Watertrail to the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail (CAJO) and the Star Spangled Banner National Historic Trail (STSP).
