Sea Walk

Sitka National Historical Park » Sea Walk » Document List

The Sea Walk project will strategically widen a paved walkway into Sitka National Historical Park. The Sea Walk trail will enhance visitor experience, safety and handicapped accessibility. The project will be coordinated with the City's Sea Walk, which was designed partially with FTA funding to be implemented as far as the Park boundary. Within the Park, the Sea Walk continues the trail as it widens and narrows along the coastline. Brush thinning along the Sea Walk will allow for views and seating. Mature Sitka Spruce and Alder where eagles perch will remain undisturbed while vegetation beneath their canopy will be thinned. Closer to the Visitor Center, some non-native rose bushes and a short fence will be removed and replaced with native plants. The Sea Walk will end at the Visitor Center entrance.
