Conversion of Maintenance Garage Vehicle Stall to Office Space

Scotts Bluff National Monument » Conversion of Maintenance Garage Vehicle Stall to Office Space » Document List

The furthest west of the garage vehicle stalls on the existing maintenance garage will be converted to office space. The maintenance building is comprised of multiple bay style stalls averaging 12' x 24' with the last section being 13'x 24'. The current maintenance garage is a hybrid of the historic east half made of adobe block walls dating to 1936 and the more modern west half dating to 1981. The proposed maintenance office is located within the later addition to the building.

The addition of a third permanent maintenance employee in the spring of 2009 has complicated the already cramped office area and the only space for the employee to have an office in the maintenance building is the vehicle bay adjacent to the maintenance office area (see photograph below). This space is in direct proximity to a third bay which is used for vehicle storage and other maintenance work activities. This current situation is not conducive to the office work needs of the new employee. The area is not air conditioned. Heating is limited to a hanging natural gas furnace.
