Merced Lake Patrol Cabin Preservation

This project is intended to correct structural, as well as health and safety issues with the Merced Lake Cabin. These deficiencies were identified by wilderness and facilities management condition assessments. The scope of work for this project includes:

Repair or replace roof
•
Repair deteriorated wall logs
•
Repair wall log chinking
•
Repair doors and windows to restore operation
•
Repair the ceiling
•
Perform extensive rodent exclusion
•
Replace wood burning stove
•
Improve and provide rodent-proof food storage
•
Replace kitchen stove pipe
•
Rodent proof existing kitchen cabinets
All repairs and replacements will be in kind and comply with The Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Any replacement logs will be gathered from down and dead logs in the area. All materials will be brought in on pack stock except the wood stove which will be flown in by helicopter. A Minimum Requirement Analysis is in process.
