Wawona Hotel, Refinish Sunroom Floor and Wood Paneling

Delaware North Company (DNC) proposes to refinish the wood floor and wood paneling at the Wawona Hotel Sunroom. The existing finish on both the floor and the side paneling is worn and deteriorating in some areas and is in need for cyclic maintenance to refinish. DNC will refer to the existing the condition assessment written by Carey & Co. for general information regarding finishes and treatment, but are seeking guidance on stain type and color (for both floor and paneling) from the park Historical Architect and the park Historic Preservation Crew. This project will be guided by the recommendations on how to protect and maintain historic finishes of a building's interior as presented in the Secretary of the Interior's Guidelines for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
